Hollywood elites crack down on Candace Cameron Bure, Elon Musk, Dave Chappelle, all in name of ‘tolerance’ https://t.co/JjQp9z8pGk — Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) January 10, 2020
The Los Angeles Times reports that the president is considering “a series of executive orders aimed at curtailing hate speech and preventing attacks against minority religions, a senior administration official said” and also believes Congress should introduce legislation that “can be used to enforce the First Amendment and can have a chilling effect.”
The Times’s report comes on the heels of Trump’s recent “remarks” defending an antisemitic conspiracy theory that posits an extensive Jewish plot to take over the world, as well as his recent “civility” outburst at the National Rifle Association’s annual convention, prompting protesters to throw punches and other projectiles in response.
Trump is also reported to have blamed the NRA’s decision to support a gun control bill in the wake of the Las Vegas massacre for his current policy of banning entry into the United States by citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries.
“I don’t want to be politically correct, I don’t want to be politically correct, but I’ve been asked that question,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade on January 8. “You know why? Because I’m being forced to be politically correct. Because if I’m not politically correct, I don’t get elected.”
“So it’s like, you’re going to put a blanket over everybody. You know what I mean? If you’re not politically correct, you’re just not going to get elected. Right? I’m being forced to be politically correct because I’m being politically correct,” he added.
Kilmeade then pressed Trump to clarify “What you’re doing is you’re going to open up your borders to everybody.”
“So what’s wrong here?” he pressed.
