A girl who wasn’t among those who survived a Christmas parade crash in North Carolina, killing a girl and injuring three others, has been identified as 2-year-old Madison.

Madison was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where she died Tuesday, officials said. It was not immediately known what led to the crash in Goldsboro.

Madison, who lived about three blocks from the crash site, was with her family when the children’s parent and the driver of the truck crossed paths Monday evening during the Route 46 Christmas parade in Greenville.

The truck driver died and the driver who crossed the line and became involved in the crash, 45-year-old Andrew Haddad, was flown to Carolinas Medical Center.

Madison was with her family, who were in a van at the time of the crash, when Haddad’s truck struck the van, according to a school system in the area. The child was not in the van at the time of the crash, officials said.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of Madison.”

The Goldsboro fire department said three other children were injured in the crash. They were sent to a hospital in Charlotte, where four were listed in critical but stable condition, and one was listed in stable condition, said Mike Williams, director of public affairs for the Goldsboro Fire Department.

In all, 10 children were injured, three seriously, North Carolina Highway Patrol said.
