LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles is mourning the loss of longtime Dodgers manager Ryne Sandberg, who died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016.
The funeral will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Cathedral in Los Angeles.
Sandberg had been battling cancer.
Sandberg, the Dodgers have said, was with the team for nearly 50 years. The Dodgers retired his No. 46 jersey last Friday, one day before he died.
Sandberg, who managed to win a World Series and two American League pennants, had two championship rings from his stints as manager of the Cardinals, Cubs and Royals.
Sandberg was in his 54th season leading the Dodgers, the team he founded in 1958. He was the Dodgers’ manager from 1968-1975 and again from 1983-1994.
The Dodgers also announced he was being treated for prostate cancer. He was 59.
