Republicans show Mayorkas what’s coming if GOP wins control of the House

GOP House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy was on Capitol Hill recently, visiting with Reps. Ann Wagner and Charlie Dent. The pair is on the Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over tax, health and social programs. The trio of Republicans is one of many Democrats who have expressed concern about the Trump administration’s economic policies.

When McCarthy was in D.C., he met with a Democratic member who is concerned about the Trump administration. That’s why.

When it’s time for the vote.

McCarthy said he believes a lot of people will support him in November. But he is concerned about the economy, which has been an issue for the last three years. He was critical of President Trump for cutting taxes.

What he said: Republicans are winning.

As a member who supported Trump, I’m a bit concerned. I believe he’s going to get us to 100 percent of what we’re looking for. But if you look at what’s in effect – he’s cut taxes, he’s cut regulations, he’s cut spending, he’s added to the debt – he’s increased our debt by more than what he’s reduced it. We’d have to do something very bad to be in worse shape than we are today. He’s been great for so long I don’t want him to be bad for too long.”

McCarthy said the country needs taxes to be increased by more than 5 percent. He wants to see the corporate rate increased to 16.5 percent because of the tax cuts that have been signed into law.

McCarthy said the country is in better shape now because the president is cutting taxes, reducing regulations and cutting spending. He wanted to see the corporate tax rate raised to 20 percent.
