The former San Francisco 49ers tight end says he was taken to a Manhattan hospital after he was injured on Sunday, and on Monday he spoke with The Associated Press.
After the attack, Chris Redd called his wife, who was in New York visiting their 4-month-old son, and told her he was afraid because of the situation they were in when he got home.
“I really wanted them to see the world the way I see it — the light shining down on me through my faith, through my family, through my work,” Redd said Monday on The Dan Patrick Show.
“The world just kept going on like this and I was just — I’m just, like, ‘What do I do?’ And just, you know, I’m going to work really hard, but, you know, like, I just needed a lot of time to heal.”
Redd, who was a two-time NFL All-Pro, was able to make it home Sunday night. He was initially treated at a hospital — and then at a private residence in Brooklyn — after he fell and hit his head on the sidewalk as he was running through a dark neighborhood. But he remained in New York City Monday
