Brosnan, who stars in hit TV show Sons Of Anarchy and is currently filming a new TV show called Underbelly: The Texas drownings, also wrote: ‘I’m so so sorrry for you man. I loved you so much. Love you buddy xxx.’

Huston shared a picture of Carter, whose television credits include hit US drama Grey’s Anatomy and the ABC series Scandal.

Carter died on Sunday (26 November) in an alleged suicide at his home in Los Angeles after reportedly struggling with depression. Carter’s death comes two weeks after he revealed his battle with depression.

The singer-actress was said to be in the midst of filming a second season of her TV show, titled What Not to Wear, but her show was cancelled in early November.

Carter, who appeared in over 40 films in his career, wrote on his Facebook page: ‘I was recently diagnosed and have been in treatment for a year and a half or so, and in the last two to three weeks of that time, the realisation that I am suffering from severe depression hit me hard – so hard that I have gone as far as to seek professional medical help.

‘I had to be admitted to the hospital twice last week and this week I am receiving a prescription from my doctor that I am to take for 15 days…this will hopefully get me back to where I feel I am in terms of my mental health.

‘I am in the process of trying to get back on-line with my friends and family so that we can discuss the situation and plan for the future.
